Ukrainian Dance World ("UDW", "we", "us") is a volunteer-run project connecting Ukrainian dance groups, dancers, and community members around the world. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, how we use it, and who we share it with.
Information We Collect
We collect information directly from you when you use one of the forms on this site:
- Newsletter sign-up: your first name, last name, and email address, used only to send you our newsletter.
- Submit Dance Group: your group’s name, country, city/region, and any website, Facebook, or Instagram links you provide, plus an optional logo image and an optional contact email for our own follow-up (that email is never published). Groups we approve are added to the public directory on this site.
- Submit Article: your name, email address, and the article text you send us, used to review your submission and, if we publish it, to credit you.
We do not collect or store any payment or financial information ourselves — see “Donations” below.
How We Use This Information
We use the information above to operate the dance-group directory and articles on this site, send the newsletter to subscribers, review and respond to submissions, and understand — in aggregate, not individually — how the site is used.
Cookies & Analytics
This site shows a cookie banner on your first visit. Until you accept it, we do not load any analytics. If you accept, we use Google Analytics, with IP addresses anonymized, to understand traffic in aggregate — pages viewed, general location, device type — not to identify you personally. You can decline analytics cookies, and you can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for this domain.
Donations
Donations made through this site are processed entirely by PayPal, on PayPal’s own website — we never see or store your card number, bank details, or PayPal login. Please see PayPal’s own privacy policy for how they handle your payment information.
Third-Party Services
This site is built and hosted on Netlify, which processes form submissions on our behalf. Dance-group directory data is kept in a Google Sheet accessible only to UDW’s organizers. We link to our own YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook channels, and to each dance group’s own website and social pages as listed in the directory — those sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy does not cover.
Data Sharing & Retention
We do not sell your personal information. Anything you ask us to publish through the Submit Dance Group form — your group’s name, location, and links — is public by design, since the directory is a public resource. We keep submission records for as long as needed to maintain the directory and articles, or until you ask us to remove them.
Your Choices
You can ask us to correct or remove your dance group’s listing, or unsubscribe from the newsletter, at any time by emailing us at the address below. Every newsletter email also includes an unsubscribe link.
Children’s Privacy
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the site changes. We’ll update the date at the top of this page whenever we do. We’re a small volunteer-run project rather than a law firm, so if you have concerns about how we handle your information, please just email us — we’re glad to talk it through.
